Dhamma:  A Theravada Buddhist Society (DBS) is an educational and charitable non-profit organization. It was created to support the work of Anagarika Dhammadinna, thought to be the first Theravada Buddhist nun in Canada. The Society offers meditation retreats and  other activities in the tradition of Theravada Buddhism. It is based in the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.

Visit our YouTube Channel to view a selection of recordings of Dhamma talks and guided meditations by various teachers.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**: At its June 23, 2025 AGM, the membership of the Society voted to request that the BC Registrar dissolve the organization. This was due to the inability to fill enough vacant executive and board positions in accordance with our bylaws, after many requests and much follow-up. The membership also voted to distribute the Society’s net assets to the Canmore Theravada Buddhist Community and Monastery (CTBC), a charitable organization in good standing in Alberta. It is expected that the dissolution process will be completed by the end of 2025. Those interested are encouraged to participate in CTBC meditation sittings and events posted on their home page.

The board of Dhamma – A Theravada Buddhist Society expresses its deep gratitude to our original teacher, Anagarika Dhammadinna and to subsequent guiding teachers over more than 45 years of sharing the Dhamma. We are also grateful to our ever evolving Sangha through which we’ve learned and grown.
